Session 2 E-Packet: Social Media — What It Is and How to Reel It In & Digital Wellbeing Tips
Healthy Petaluma’s Technology & Youth Speaker Series brought together families, educators, and community members, with over 300 RSVPs, to discuss how digital technology and social media are affecting young people today. Guest speakers shared research and practical strategies for supporting healthy tech use, setting boundaries, encouraging offline connection, and promoting overall well-being.
The series created space for open conversation and offered tools that parents and youth-supporting adults can use at home, in schools, and in community programs. Healthy Petaluma will continue to support meaningful dialogue around youth mental and emotional health in our community.

Know a high school student interested in making a positive impact?
During the Middle School event, teen leaders from Generation Remix facilitated the youth breakout session to share digital wellbeing tips. As a follow up, Healthy Petaluma is partnering with Generation Remix and Petaluma City School District to recruit high school students to form a Petaluma-based teen leadership team. These high school students will participate in a 10-hour internship and learn how to use Generation Remix's peer-to-peer materials to spread digital wellbeing throughout our community. This is a compensated opportunity for teens to build critical skills and early professional experience. Apply here today!
